The Knitted Sackboy is Finished!

Hi Everyone,

Just thought I’d let you know that I’ve finally finished the knitted Sackboy. He was really good fun to knit, I particularly liked the arms. He’s a little smaller than the pattern intended (the link for the pattern is on the previous post and on the yummy recipes page), but just as cute. Hope you like him!

wow, that looks great! I started knitting last week because of this pattern, but I do not understand the abbreviations. Could you maybe explain what is meant with, for example: K1,(Inc 1) three times, K3, (Inc 1) three times, K2 [18 stitches]

I really want to try this! Hope you can help.. Regards, Arno

    Hi Arno,

I’ll try and explain the pattern for you. It means:
Knit one stitch (k1), increase one stitch by knitting into the front and back of the next stitch(inc 1), repeat this inc 1 three times, knit 3 stitches (k3) then increase by knitting into the front and back of the next stitch (inc 1), then repeat this increase 1 three times, then knit two stitches. You should finish up with 18 stitches.

Not sure if I’ve made that any clearer but you could google knitting abbreviations if you’re still stuck.

    Hi!

Wow, thanks for that explanation! It is very clear now! All I need now is to find me that yarn, which I haven’t found yet in Holland…

    Thanks so much!

    Hi Jason.
It’s not too hard to knit, but you’d need to learn some basic stitches and have a practice first. There’s loads of good videos and other resources on the internet, or your local yarn store ma be able to help you (not sure where you’re from?). Do you have any friends or relatives who it? I found it easier to learn by having someone show me. If you pick it up quickly, and learn how to read the pattern, it shouldn’t be too hard. You’ll need to practice your stitches quite a bit first to make sure they’re neat and even before you start to make a toy.
    Good luck!
    Abbie

Hi Erika. Have you knitted before? The pattern isn’t too tricky but you’ll need an understanding of knitting and how to read patterns. If you would like to learn how to knit, there are plenty of resources and videos on the internet, or you could try out which is a great knitting and crocheting site.
    Good luck,
